Rima Das’ Village Rockstars 2 will release in cinemas in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune on Sept. 25, PTI reported.
The nationwide release follows the film’s theatrical run in Assam. Goenka Enterprises is handling the film’s distribution.
The sequel to Das’ 2017 National Award-winning film Village Rockstars, Village Rockstars 2 premiered at the Busan International Film Festival, where it won the Kim Jiseok Award. It subsequently had its European premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival.
The Assamese-language film follows a teenage girl in rural Assam as she navigates friendship, family, music and the uncertainties of growing up, while also engaging with nature and climate change.
PTI reported that the film’s release in the six cities marks its expansion into the Indian theatrical market beyond Assam.
