Yuvvraaj aka 'Yawn-raaj' review
What can I write in praise of a movie which ends with an ambiguous, clichéd, obsolete, gyaanwardhak philosophy -- "Independent you stand but in a united family". It is nothing but a tale of money vs morals! "Everyone wants to be a rock star, regardless of whether they have the morals to go with the appellation," said Subhash Ghai in one of his interviews. According to Ghai, the film is about the arrogance and overconfidence of contemporary youth. He seems to be over burdened with his academic venture ‘˜Whistling Woods'...which reflects in his film Yuvvraaj. Overboard with his teaching like ways, he appears to be a strict and sissy teacher  reprimanding an aimless bunch of young students, and less likely like a senior Bollywood director.
Yuvvraaj's opulent canvas seems to be over inspired by Milos Forman's musical extravaganza Amadeus, a great film on the life of Mozart. Likewise, music lover Anil Kapoor suffers from ‘˜Genius Disorder'. Anil Kapoor has a legacy of performing ‘˜Bhola Bhala Insaan' misguided by a ‘˜paltan' of family full of ill intentions, right from ‘˜Eeshwar' to ‘˜Beta' to ‘˜Kishen Kanhaiyya'! With Yuvvraaj he has mastered his performance .Just a wish.... More than flaunting his nerve-wrecked attitude, if Salman could have also tried to perform!
Akshay Kumar's company has surely done wonders to Katrina. She has shown that by now, she can act effortlessly. I don't feel the need to look out for words to talk about the spoilt brat of the film, Zayed Khan, who takes tremendous pressure to exhibit a frown or even a smile. Mithun's special appearance appears to be a PR exercise to bag a Subhash Ghai film for his poor, not so little son ‘˜Mimoh'.  What to say about the Big Bad family of Yuvvraajs. They look like scare-crows. A  handicapped mamaji wheeling to grab the wealth, a schemer mamiji, oomphatic- seductive bhabhi chancing on all the yuvraajs and impotently grinning cousin brothers eating potato chips.
Rehman's music is the only reham factor for the viewers. In the name of Ghai- Gulzar solidarity (as promoted heavily), one gets an impression that Ghai was more involved in  getting the lyrics done more than the scripting. In the glitterati of the grandeur, the plot is so meek that it quietly sublimes. He has tried to vulture the venture by wooing the NRIs with setting the context of Europe and by casting the lucky charm of recent days, Katrina who happens to be the poster girl of the movie.
Only the beautiful location of Prague and Vienna will surely give some green tonic to your eyes! Otherwise , Yuvvraaj was a ‘˜yawn'some experience.

I think Industry's Showman Mr Ghai
I think Industry's Showman Mr Ghai should take a beak for a while. His comeback film Yuvvraaj could not strike a chord. We would rather expect that he would concentrate on producing good films like Iqbal and provide a platform for the upcoming talents.
