World Cinema Collection Now Available Online news
NDTV Lumière, a homegrown distributor of world cinema in India, has announced to make some of its collection available on internet through www.jaman.com, a website that distributes film on the web. Users after a free registration can view these films for a fee of USD 2 per download. Films can either be watched online through streaming or can be downloaded.
This service will be available to the nationals of India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Maldives. Once downloaded movies can be watched for a period of seven days.
The association with Jaman kicks off in August with the release of Mika Kaurismäki's film library. Kaurismaki's first film The Liar when first shown at the Tampere Film Festival in Finland was an overnight sensation, starting a whole new era in Finnish cinema.
Other titles from his catalogue will also be made available. In the following months, the Jaman website will feature a collection of international cinema from around the world, showcasing ingenious works by a host of talented directors.
Viewers can watch Nanni Moretti's emotional drama The Son's Room, which won the Palme d'Or at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. The film tells the harrowing story of a once tight-knit, happy family having to come to terms with a devastating loss and get on with their lives. Also available will be winner of the 2007 Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, Padre Nuestro, which established Christopher Zalla as an exceptional writer and director. And last but not the least, also featured on the site will be Paolo Barzman's, Emotional Arithmetic which is based on an award-winning novel and stars internationally acclaimed actors Max Von Sydow and Susan Sarandon.
