By Cineuropa • Jul 8th, 2008 • Filed under: Movies, News

Abdellatif Kechiche will preside the jury of the Luigi De Laurentiis Award for Best Debut Film at this year’s Venice Film Festival (August 27-September 6).

The Tunisian director won the award at Venice in 2000 for his first feature, Blame it on Voltaire and in 2007 won the Special Jury Prize for The Secret and the Grain [trailer], for which Hafsia Herzi also won the Best Emerging Actor award.

The jury will include young Brazilian actress Alice Braga; US director-producer Gregory Jacobs; Donald Ranvaud, a film historian, critic, producer and filmmaker; and screenwriter Heidrun Schleef, who has worked with Mimmo Calopresti, Nanni Moretti, Gabriele Muccino and Michele Placido.
