“Tokyo Sonata” and “Gulabi Talkies” win top awards at 10th Osian’s Cinefan

FIPRESCI award to Ramchand Pakistani, Audience award to The Band’s Visit

Tokyo Sonata won best film award in the Asian and Arab category
Tokyo Sonata won best film award in the Asian and Arab category
Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s film about a disintegrating Japanese family after the patriarch loses his job “Tokyo Sonata” won best film award at the 10th Osian’s Cinefan Festival in Asian and Arab category while Kannada director Girish Kasaravalli walked away with the award for the best Indian film in the competition section for his Gulabi Talkies.

Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan won best director award for his Palme d’Or nominated Three Monkeys in Asian and Arab category, while Remo got the award in the Indian category for his A Story of a Red Hill.

Pakistani director Mehreen Jabbar’s Ramchand Pakistani got the FIPRESCI award for best film along with Annemarie Jacir’s Salt of the Sea (Palestine/Belgium/France)

Eran Kolirin’s The Band’s Visit (Israel/France) got the audience award.
