IFFLA adds “Ship of Theseus”, panel discussion on indie cinema

Osian’s Cinefan 2012 Review: Prashant Bhargava’s “Patang”

Patang, actually, is more about imagery than intricate storytelling; and Bhargava adopts an almost documentary-like approach while capturing the sights and sounds of the city, his editing and Raman’s camera complementing each other smoothly, except for a few portions where this cinema verite approach looks a bit forced.

The seeds for the movie Patang were planted in 2005, when my trip to Ahmedabad coincided with the city’s annual kite festival. When I first witnessed the entire city on their rooftops, staring up at the sky, their kites dueling ferociously, dancing without inhibition, I knew I had to make this film.
