Short Film Fest in Delhi news
A festival of short films, Filmbooth 2008, took place in Delhi between December 19-21. This three-day festival screened 50 short films in competition, cinematic and Bollywood sections. It was organized by ForumForFilms, a community for short filmmakers, at the India Habitat Centre.
Planned along the lines of the LA Shortfests, The Manhattan Shorts, NY Shorts, the event aims at bringing together short films from across the country and providing a common platform to filmmakers to showcase their talent. The festival had two competitive sections one for films up to one minute duration, another for up to 20 minutes duration.
Apart from movies selected for participation, the festival also screened short movies like Jaago AIDS. The festival opened with Mira Nair's film, 'Migration'. The other films include Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Blood Brothers', Farhan Akhtar's 'Positive' and Santosh Sivan's 'Parambha'
The best Short film in the up to one minute category award was won by Abhinav Tripathi for "Jump" that follows a man who has jumped to his death but changes his mind mid-way. Best Short film in 20 minute category was won by Arunima for her Film - "In Transit". This experimental film explores the idea of a man within the context of evolution, using inventive juxtaposition of sounds and images of contemporary urban India.
The award for the best story was won by Abhijit Sudhakar from Bangalore for his film "The Scholar" for showing the dilemmas of a school boy to score highest in the examination. The team also gave a special mention to the film "The Story of My library".
