Robbed by pretty Bandidas
I’m ready to bear with the most tedious film if it gives me a close up fo an actress I like.
Jean Renoir

Renoir’s words never sounded so true ever before as last night when I watched Bandidas. Frankly, a poster was enough to make me want to see this film and the beautiful ladies of cinema made it worth it.
Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek are such a delight to watch on screen that after a while one tended to forget if it’s actually a film or a circus full with pretty gymnasts and jokers.
I hardly followed the plot or story or anything of that sort hence no point commenting on them. Yeah, the ladies were good. Liked them all the more in their bandit dress performing daredevilry.
I don’t know whether I like Penelope Cruz better or Salma Hayek. Penelope as a peasant girl was a delight to watch after her Volver’s controlled and intense performance. I still remember the top angle cleavage shot where she is cleaning the knife in Volver.
I don’t know where Bandidas is set up and which period it tries to recreate, nevertheless the ladies are good.
Okay, let me tell you the plot. Salma Hayek is the daughter of a Mexican banker. And Penelope is a peasant’s daughter. This Mexican bank is fraudulently bought by an American businessman. The new owners go on a killing spree. They kill Salma father, the previous owner and “almost kill” Penelope’s. Revenge and a sense of responsibility towards the people drive these ladies to rob banks and how they do it is worth a watch.
If you trust Renoir’s words, there’re enough close ups of not one but two beautiful and fantastic actors. Though not a great movie but not a complete waste either, thanks to the ladies.

Man, believe me the film has nothing, not even enough close ups, I don’t know why you’re writing about it..
