Olmi to Recieve Lifetime Golden Lion at Venice news
Renowned Italian filmmaker Ermanno Olmi will be honoured with Golden Lion for Lifetime achievement at the upcoming 65th edition of the festival. 65th edition of the festival is set for a gala opening on August 27th.
Olmi will be awarded Golden Lion on September 5th.
Olmi has made more than 60 films in a career spanning more than 50 years and has won more than 30 international awards.
20 years ago in 1988, Olmi's La leggenda del santo bevitore (The Legend of the Holy Drinker), based on the novel by Joseph Roth had won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. His film The Tree of Wooden Clogs (L'Albero degli zoccoli), was awarded the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 197.
