“India has much more to offer than just Bollywood. The Lunchbox, first feature and wonderful feel good film by director Ritesh Batra, proves this beyond any doubt,” mentions the festival website.
The Lunchbox will also compete with seven feature films in the First Feature Competition. Other titles in competition include Le Passé by Asgar Farhadi and Thy Womb by Brillante Mendoza. The Best film will be awarded a Jury prize and 5000 Euro. There is also the World Cinema Audience award with a cash prize of 5000 Euro.
The Lunchbox featuring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui won the Grand Rail d’Or , an audience award at the International Critics’ Week of Cannes Film Festival.
