‘Fifty years have passed since China took over Tibet, and after so many years of efforts to resolve the issue, still Tibetans are struggling for their freedom’. So, our film ‘The Sun Behind The Clouds’ is meant to express unrest in young generation in Tibet, said director duo Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam, in a press conference held at NCPA as a part of MIFF’2010.
The film explores the interplay between the personal and historic, religious and political conflicts between China and Tibet and most importantly, the efforts taken by Dalai Lama to resolve the issue peacefully, still it remains unsolved feeling of loosing hopes adding desperation and unrest among the people, especially younger generation of Tibet.
Director duo Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam are making documentaries and short films on this issue since last twenty years. Their film ‘The Sun Behind The Clouds’ may showcase the problem at a global forum and will help to once again start the discussions to resolve the issue.
Directors expressed satisfaction about India’s stand on this very sensitive issue, but also stressed the need of an active support to the people of Tibet and their freedom struggle from Indian government in future also.
