Salim Ahamed’s “Kunjananthante Kada” to release on Aug 30

kunjaSalim Ahamed whose debut feature Adaminte Makan Abu picked up four national awards and was India’s official entry for the Oscars in 2012 is ready with his next film.

Titled Kunjananthante Kada (Kunjanandan’s Shop), the Malayalam-language film will release on August 30 in Kerala along with Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. The film will have a simultaneous release in the Gulf countries.

Kunjananthante Kada features Malayalam superstar Mammootty in the lead role. The film also features Nyla Usha and Salim Kumar. Oscar-winner Resul Pookutty (Slumdog Millionaire) is the sound-designer for the film.

It revolves around the strained relationship of a couple who lives together although their tastes and priorities are different.

Ahamed’s first film Adaminte Makan Abu won the 58th National Award for Best Feature Film,  Best Actor, Best Cinematographer and Best Background Score. It also won a Special Jury Award at the 42nd International Film Festival of India in 2011 and traveled to several international film festivals.
