The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) will host the opening party of Cannes Film Market (Marché du Film) on May 16th.
132 Indian film professionals are attending the market this year that includes mainstream players such as UTV, Viacom 18 as well as independent producers like AKFPL and Dar Motion Pictures.
NFDC will also celebrate the success of Ritesh Batra’s “Lunchbox” at India Pavilion by hosting a cocktail on May 18.
India is the guest country at Cannes Film Festival this year. The festival will celebrate the 100 years of Indian cinema by hosting a gala screening of “Bombay Talkies” by Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee, Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar on Sunday May 19th in the Grand Théâtre Lumière.
Amit Kumar’s “Monsoon Shootout” will have a midnight screening in Grand Théâtre Lumière on Saturday, May 18.
Anurag Kashyap’s “Ugly” is screening in the Directors’ Fortnight while Ritesh Batra’s “Lunchbox” will be screened in the International Critics Week.
There is no India party at Cannes this year. Instead, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will host the official dinner of the festival following the screening of “Bombay Talkies” on May 19th.
