"Involuntary" wins FIPRESCI Best Foreign Language film at Palm Springs International news
Sweden's Oscar entry "Involuntary" won the FIPRESCI critics' prize for foreign-language film in the 21st edition of the Palm Springs International Film festival. “Involuntary” directed by Ruben Ostlund is a black comedy featuring five parallel stories with human behavior as the common theme.
South Korean/French debut feature "A Brand New Life” won the Palm Springs award for New Voices/New Visions. The awards were declared in the closing ceremony of festival on Sunday.
Ted Bekhauri earned the FIPRESCI for Best Actor for his performance in "The Other Band" (Georgia/Kazakhstan), and Anne Dorval won the FIPRESCI Best Actress for "I Killed My Mother." European thriller "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," directed by Niels Arden Oplev, won the audience award for narrative feature, while the audience documentary award went to "The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers," from filmmakers Judith Ehrlich and Rick Goldsmith.
