Dev D and 3 Idiots bag 6 Filmfare awards each news
Lines between small budget alternative films and big budget star studded cinema got blurred at the 55th Filmfare Awards. Anurag Kashyap’s Dev D competed neck to neck with Rajkumar Hirani’s blockbuster 3 Idiots and settled for six statuettes each in the award ceremony held in Mumbai late Saturday.
"3 Idiots" was declared the best film, while Rajkumar Hirani claimed the best director award for the movie. It also claimed the awards for the Best Screenplay, Best Dialogue, Best Story and Best Supporting Actor. Dev D won the Filmfare awards in the Best Supporting Actress, Critics' Award for Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design and Art Direction, Best Background Score and RD Burman Award for new musical talent categories.
Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan were cited as best actor and best actress respectively at the star-studded 55th Filmfare awards ceremony.
Bachchan won the award for his role in "Paa", while Vidya Balan claimed the trophy for her role in the same movie. As Bachchan was not present in the ceremony, Vidya Balan took the award on his behalf.
Hosting the gala night were Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan, whose one liners had the audience in splits. Their on-stage chemistry was much appreciated by the Bollywood stars present at the ceremony at the Yash Raj Studios. The complete list of winners:-
