MIFF to Merge National and International Competitions article
The 11th Edition of Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, short and animation films (MIFF) will be held 3rd to 9th February 2010. This was decided in the first meeting of the festival organizing committee chaired by Sushama Singh, Secretary of Information and Broadcasting ministry, Government of India.
Filmmakers Shyam Benegal, Adoor Goplakrishnan and Mani Kaul were also present in the meeting.
A decision to introduce a combined competition of Indian and international films was taken in the meeting. Till 10th MIFF held in 2008 there were separate competition sections for Indian and foreign documentaries. While from 11th edition there will be only one competition but the prize money on offer will be raised for Best Documentary film.
The festival will be held in NCPA Complex in Mumbai. Last date to submit entries is 11th September, 2009.
