May Every Bheja Worth Its Salt, Fry! article
Why Bheja Fry made her write a review, Nikita shares
A modestly publicised Bollywood movie carries an extra reason for me to get curious. I associate it with a personal theory that goes something like:
the-director-is-greatly-talented-has-a-great-message-
but-so-what-if-he's-got-a-tighter-budget?
And so what if the cast doesn't put media flashbulbs in a tizzy? Make Way, please!
It took just ONE television trailer to persuade me to get myself a third row ticket for Sagar Ballary's aptly titled 'BHEJA FRY'. The ensemble cast isn't something that may have dried too many brain cells. It is purely ingenious. Perfection to a true beholder. Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Rajat Kapoor, Milind Soman and Sarika bring in their own idiosyncrasies and pack a fun punch in the face. Plausible. The character sketches are crafted out intricately : each, a mocktail of demented quirks, supra-strong ideals and real-life sensibilities.
The film is simply, i reiterate. A refreshing Indian comedy of errors that doesnt make me want to draw parallels with xyz or abc. A sign of good health.
The plot is essentially a khichdi. Most of the film is shot within the closed premises of a home but there's no time to notice claustrophobia. The entire film is like this double-cheese pan pizza that's stuffed with whacked out dialogue. Of course, watch out for a nearly equal dose of witticism and a sprinkling of disastrous jokes. The viewer isnt complaining because it's all played out with such elan : ) That's what drives the course: the effortlessness. The actors flow from scene to scene with practiced ease. The plot rumbles on, keeping you guessing, glued to the seat. Real madness.
In retrospect, two things make me particularly happy:
1. That a modern-day Bollywood film falling under the 'comedy/drama' genre can be free of the freely made lewd humour stereotype of our times.
2. That a film does NOT, and this has been proven by the occasional daunt of a brave filmmaker, need to depend on it's song and dance routine. In fact, if one were to argue, why, Bheja Fry has some fantastic numbers in the voice of our very dear Vinay Pathak, who associates every situation with a Hindi picchar classic. Entertaining!
Bheja Fry is a good, clever movie. I wont call it a laught riot but it has this compelling quality that makes you want to immediately go buy a DVD for collector's sake.
It makes you want to write a good review about it.
It relaxes you and leaves you smiling for a long, long, long time.: )

Yes, the confined space in Bheja Fry
Yes, the confined space in Bheja Fry never gets claustrophobic. Why, because the film perhaps is not about physical spaces. It lets you peep into the minds of characters except thatRanveer Shorey's.
A rock solid script, colorful characters, beautifully enacted!
Yes I can't agree more "a sign of very good health"
