Ingmar Bergman's last film 'Saraband' on Television news
NDTV Lumiere, the just launched world cinema channel from NDTV stable has announced to premiere Ingmar Bergman's last film "Saraband" (a television drama made in 2003).
Saraband made for Swedish television captures the lives of Marianne (Liv Ulmann), Johan (Erland Josephson) and Henrik (Börje Ahlstedt). The film deals with intricacies of human relations. The complex relationships that it deals with also include an incestuous one between Henrik and his daughter Karin (Julia Dufvenious).
On the occasion of channels's launch, Sunil Doshi, Director, NDTV Lumière, says "With the on-air launch of NDTV Lumiere, we are delighted to further enhance the reach and distribution of films from the cinematic delights of Europe and other parts of the World. In addition, we will bring our audiences Ingmar Bergman's last film (before he died) 'SARABAND' in an exclusive premiere on NDTV Lumiere."The initial line up on the channel includes films such as, Gone With The Woman (2007), Winner of the Discovery Award for Best Film at the 2007 Hollywood Film Festival, Fratricide (2005), winner of the Silver Leopard at the 2005 Locarno International Film Festival and Good Morning Heartache (2008), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008 and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema section.
According to a press release from the channel "Prime Time on the NDTV Lumière channel will be 10 pm where each night of the week will offer a different flavor, a different adventure, a different view of the world. 'Project Monday' offers edgy films from maverick and young debutante Directors; Tuesdays and Wednesdays focus on 'Festival Flix', showcasing critically acclaimed films, award-winners and nominees. On Thursdays get ready for tons of action and edge-of-the-seat thrill with 'ATW' (Action - Thrillers - War). The 'Friday Lounge' brings cozy entertainers to kick back and enjoy and on Saturdays watch the most loved, coveted, famous and latest films on the 'Saturday Box Office'. And finally the 'Sunday Showcase' will feature the crème de la crème of international cinema."
