Film Festivals turn corporate in India? forum
You might have noticed that annual MAMI film festival bearns a new look from this year, it's now called Mumbai Film Festival (MFF). Festival also claims to be an initiative of Reliance Big Entertainment! Legally, film festivals in India are not-for-profit ventures but the question is why would a notoriously aggresive corporation would support a film festival?
Does a film festival actually benefit from such a collaboration? Is turning corporate is the only way forward for film festivals in India?
corporate means to kill the greatness of Indianity. See IPL . They killed Indian Cricket-Now Likely to killed Indian Cinema.Let Me Know why tax Examption to invest in an independent film would not occuar in India like Europe. As Goverment and Corporate feels filmmaking is a dangerous practice as it told the story on Humanity. So Independent film distribution is facing obstuction frequently.

I think this kind of tendancies would badly affect the spirit of regional films like bengali, malayalam etc. Recently these kind of festivals try to give more important to bollywood films rather to promote the creative sparks from other film fraternities. These festIVAL authorites should give proper answer to what's the purpose behind these kind of activities. Recently there had a rage among the malayalam film directors against the selction of films for the upcoming IFFI, and also they approached the high court to stay the selection procedure. It's really a black mark to the selection commitee. I think most of these commitee members didn't watch the proposed films for this festival.
