Has the programming improved at IFFI, Goa this year? This is what at least the organizers claim? The red carpets of course have improved! Festival has a great ambience..but what about the films that they screen? Is it better or worse? write your opinion here...

was present there this year..must say it was poorly organised..none of the staff was ready to take any responsibility..or jus willin to help.. programmin was not upto the mark..iffi can truly become one of the best festivals in the world no doubt..but need ppl who have vision and passion to make this festival one of the best....

IFFI needs vision. This year's choice of retrospectives indicate the nadir to which IFFI has fallen. In the past decades, IFFI's strength was centered on the fascinating retrospectives that competed for attention with best films in the other sections.
The jury is a lacklustre one. That is a major indicator of any festival. There are no any high profile directors in attendance, which Goa had claimed it could attract because of the venue.
Among the films on show, highly-rated world famous directors are very few and far between. Good films on show such as the French award-winning "The class" is being shown a year after it was shown in another international festival in India.
If IFFI is to be an international event, speeches by officials that include "shayaris" ought to include translations for the sake of visitors who do not know Hindi/Urdu. It is bad enough that the Indian media create distractions at such events as the inauguration, but for the MC to reprimand them on national TV was a tragedy.
And why is IFFI promoting the Toronto film festival? Will Toronto promote IFFI?
I truly wish Ms Ambika Soni revamps IFFI just as Mrs Indira Gandhi gave a boost to IFFI when she was the Information and Broadcasting Minister decades ago to make IFFI briefly on par with Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Moscow.
