Christopher Lee will receive the Festival President´s Award at Karlovy Vary

Famous British actor Christopher Lee will receive the Festival President’s Award at the 43rd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The Festival President’s Award is given to actors, directors, and producers who have contributed in a fundamental way to the development of film, not merely in their own countries but around the world.

Within the program Master Classes - held on July the 10th at 2 p.m., Christopher Lee will introduce his work to general public, his many fans, as well as the film professionals. The event will take place in Captain Morgan’s tent.

Christopher Lee´s film and TV career spans over 250 credits, from classic British dramas, undying Hammer horrors, international epics and unforgettable roles in both literary and sci-fi megahit cycles, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. The only actor to have played both Sherlock Holmes and his brother, he has brought to vivid screen life Frankenstein’s monster, The Mummy, Fu Manchu, as well as real-life icons Rasputin and Jinnah.

But one of his great loves is opera, and in conversation with British broadcaster and critic Phillip Bergson, Christopher Lee will talk about the importance of music in the training of an actor - which should be of special interest to students of DAMU and FAMU and anyone beginning a career in film.

As a brilliant raconteur, he will also answer questions about his extensive work, with everyone from Spielberg to Tim Burton, and his participation with Colin Farrell-only last month-in the new film Triage by Danis Tanovic.
