The Hurt Locker was named Best Film at the British Academy Film Awards, held at London’s Royal Opera House. The film also won five other awards: Director for Kathryn Bigelow, the first woman to win the award, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Editing and Sound.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) today annouced the nominations for the 2010 annual awards. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 21 February at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden. Nominations for the best film not in English language was annocued earlier this month, no Indian film has made it to the list.

Swedish Vampire drama “Let the right one in” has been nominated for BAFTA awards in the foreign language category along with Broken Embraces, Coco Before Chanel, A Prophet and The White Ribbon.
