7th SiGNS calling for entries

FFSIThe 7th edition of the SiGNS is calling for entries for documentaries and short features of less that 70 minutes to compete for the John Abraham National Awards. Last date for all submissions is 5th January 2013. See here to submit films online.

Four awards will be conferred by the SiGNS festival- Best Documentary, Best Short Feature, Cinema of Resistance, and Cinema Experimenta. Cinema of Resistance Award will go to the best film on subjects like state oppression, human rights violation, environmental issues, especially in areas like gender equality, social/cultural identity etc. and Cinema Experimenta is an award for the best experimental attempt either technically or aesthetically, which challenges the existing concepts of medium.

All awards will go along with a cash prize (to be shared between the producer and director), a Certificate of Merit and a Memento.

John Abraham Awards was launched in 1999 by the Kerala Region of Federation of Film Societies. The festival will run from the 10th to 15th February, 2013.
