5th New Jersey Independent South Asian Cine Fest invites entries
5th New Jersey Independent South Asian Cine Fest (NJISACF) is inviting entries. The 2011 edition of the festival will showcase “independent films by or about South Asian women from all over the world that challenge the stereotypical and traditional portrayal of South Asian women in mainstream commercial cinema” (as mentioned on the official website of the festival).
The deadline for submissions is July 16, 2011. Films can be submitted in all genres, formats and length. Jury and Audience Choice Prizes will be awarded in various categories.
The three day-long festival, which will be held in October, aims to introduce new and established independent women film artists, from South Asia and the South Asian Diaspora. The festival will also include filmmaker Q&As and panel discussions with academics from a variety of disciplines.
Submission form and guidelines are available at www.njisacf.org. Submission forms may also be requested by sending an email to asamfilmtheater@yahoo.com.
New Jersey Independent South Asian Cine Fest (NJISACF) was created as a part of the Asian American Film and Theater Project, a non-profit organization based in USA.
