Utpal Borpujari’s “Ishu” selected at Cinekid Junior Co-Production Market

|

Utpal Borpujari’s Ishu has been selected at the Junior Co-Production Market of Cinekid.

A total of thirty five projects across film and television were announced by the Cinekid for Professionals. The selected projects are aimed at children from the age of four to fourteen and have a minimum of 10 per cent of their finance in place.

The films will be presented in the market at Amsterdam on 24th and 25th October followed by a five day one-on-one interaction with interested financiers.

Ishu is a screen adaptation of a children’s novel in Assamese by Manikuntala Bhattacharjya, one of the most-popular writers in Assam. The film shows a seven year old boy’s perspective of the violent and prejudice-ridden world around him. He needs to single-handedly fight the superstitious adults to save a loved one who has been branded as a witch.

The CineKids for Professionals brings together broadcasters, networks, entertainment companies, distributors, producers, academics and journalists in a co-production market that presents thirty five projects from television, film and cross media sections.
