SACF to honour veteran British Asian filmmaker Yavar Abbas

Veteran British Asian filmmaker Yavar Abbas, who has just turned ninety will be honoured by South Asian Cinema Foundation (SACF) in London on March 4. SACF is an organization in the UK promoting South Asian cinema.


An SACF Lifetime Achievement Award will be conferred upon Yavar Abbas. He will also speak about his life and career in an In Conversation before an invited audience.


SACF will release a book India! My India! And Other Films of Yavar Abbas on this occasion. The well-known Indian filmmaker, Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi will be attending as a special guest.


A Yavar Abbas Retrospective is also being held in London where a selection of his films will be screened at 2pm every Sunday on 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th March 2010.


Yavar Abbas has directed more than 21 films including the internationally acclaimed India! My India! Yavar has also been a BBC news cameraman, Urdu Broadcaster and a prolific writer in English and Urdu.
