Patang to close 10th Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles

By NewsDesk • Published on April 14, 2012

Award winning film Patang directed by Prashant Bhargava and produced by Jaideep Punjabi will be screened as the Closing Night Gala film at the 10th Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) on April 15.

On April 14, IFFLA has scheduled a special 1 hour event to explore the unique approach to creating Patang – The Making of Patang from Script to Screen. Actress Seema Biswas, screenwriter James Townsend, composer Mario Grigorov, screenwriter, director and editor Prashant Bhargava will discuss in depth their craft and collaboration.

“When a Delhi businessman returns to his childhood home in Ahmedabad for India’s largest kite festival, an entire family has to confront its own fractured past and fragile dreams. With naturalistic performances from actors and non-actors alike, bold, lyrical editing and vibrant cinematography, PATANG delights the senses and nourishes the spirit,” is the synopsis of Patang.

American Film Critic Roger Ebert has invited Patang to screen as part of his personally curated film festival EBERTFEST.

Patang had its world premiere in 2011 at the Berlin Film Festival. It was subsequently selected as 1 of 12 feature films to screen in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival.  The film has screened at over 25 film festivals worldwide including: The Chicago International Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival and the Stockholm Film Festival.

Patang will screen in theaters in New York, Chicago and San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver in summer 2012. An Indian release is scheduled for later this year.
