FTII student selected for Cinetrain, the Russian Winter Project

|

Sandhya Daisy Sundaram, a final year direction student from FTII has been selected to participate in Cinetrain, The Russian Winter Project to be held in Russia in January 2013.

Started in 2008, the idea of Cinetrain is to bring a unique working method, invented by Russian documentary filmmakers in the 1930s. During the project, selected filmmakers from around the world travel across Russia and make documentaries on the given topics. Teams have to shoot and edit short documentary novels on a given theme; the result of the project being a full-length documentary composed of several novels different in form and approach.

The idea behind the Russian Winter Project is to explore the Russian north during winter time, taking a fresh look at the stereotypes about Russia. A total number of seven documentaries will be made during the project, while Sandhya will be directing the film on Russian Women.

The project is now in development and will take place in January 2013, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
