Films Division slashes prices of its CDs and vintage footages

By NewsDesk • Published on January 23, 2011

This might come as a big relief for film lovers and filmmakers.  Films Division has cut down on the prices of the CDs and stock shots after a recent costing review. News magazines, documentaries, animation films, shorts and featurettes will now be available on VCD/DVD formats at ` 90/ 170 apiece, including taxes.

The rare B&W visuals of Gandhi, Nehru, Bose and Ambedkar etc. can be procured in Beta format for rates ranging from ` 270 to ` 324 per meter while colour footages cost between ` 330 and ` 396. The B&W and color strip (35mm) rates have also come down to ` 320-384 and `470-564 respectively.

These footages were earlier priced above `1000 in all gauges while the DVD cost was ` 338.

Films Division CDs can be procured from its Pedder Road head office in Mumbai or from its Branches in all major state capitals and cities. The footages can be purchased after completing the formalities from its HO.

Films Division is the largest repository of documentaries, many of them having vintage value. Queries can be mailed to publicity@filmsdivision.org.
