Film Bazaar to promote six directors at Cannes

Film Bazaar, an annual film market set up by NFDC will introduce and promote six directors at 64th Cannes Film Festival, including Anurag Kashyap, Anusha Rizvi, Dibakar Banerjee, Haobam Paban Kumar, Laxmikant Shetgaonkar and Sekhar Kammula.

Anurag Kashyap is known for films like Dev D and Black Friday. He recently directed That Girl in Yellow Boots and his latest is Gangs of Wasseypur.

Anusha Rizvi made her debut with Peepli Live in 2010.

Dibakar Banerjee has won National Film Awards for his first two films, Khosla Ka Ghosla and Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! His third film was Love, Sex Aur  Dhokha and he is currently working on a political thriller Shanghai.

Haobam Paban Kumar is an award winning documentary filmmaker from Manipur.

Laxmikant Shetgaonkar’s The Man Beyond the Bridge won the FIPRESCI prize in the Discovery section of Toronto International Film Festival.

Sekhar Kammula is a Telegu filmmaker known for films like Happy Days and Anand. His film Dollar Dreams won him a National Film Award in 2000.

These filmmakers have been chosen to represent the linguistic and cultural diversity of India.  NFDC aims to introduce their work at Cannes and give them a platform to explore new relationships.

Film Bazaar India was set up by NFDC in 2007, with an objective to facilitating collaborations between the Indian film industry and the global film fraternity in the realms of production and distribution.
