Akshay Kumar AKA The Next Superstar... article
Naturally comic is what this tough hero has proved in the recent years. And so we say, "Akshay, kya bacche ki jaan loge(of course with loads of laughter!)" writes Tanushree Raman Sandhu
He is no longer a mere dependable action hero. This Khiladi number one did a bit Hera Pheri in his roles and made the critics Awara, Pagal, Deewana. It was later the Garam Masala that added the much awaited flavour to his career. Genre of action was left way behind and his fans said, "Hey Baby you are Welcome." And he embraced the overseas audience by saying Namastey London. In this Bhool Bhulayiaa of 17 years of his film career Akshay Kumar alias Akki has finally carved a niche in Bollywood.
Now it's not only about Khans or Bachchans anymore, the fans these days are all ga-ga bout Akshay Kumar! What makes him stand tall amid such counterparts? Well, ask his fans and prompts come the reply, "His natural acting, simplicity, physique, dialogue delivery, make-believe stunts (no duplicate ever no matter how risky it is), amusing expressions...diversified roles he play...uhh....the list is long. But to cut a long story short he connects easily with the audience.
For a guy with tough looks and a perfect physique was it tough to take up a different genre all together? Don't really think so because comedy like emotions comes naturally to Akki. An overview of his career shows that since his first movie Saughand in 1991, Akshay has come a long way. He has even won Filmfare Best Villian Award in 2001 for Ajnabee and Filmfare Best Comedian Award in 2005 for Garma Masala. The Bollywood king of 2007 gave hat-trick hits and made the cash flowing on the box- office, defying the doubts of trade pundits about his repetitive comic act. And yes now the success of a movie can rest assure on him as a lead actor.
But the buzz in Bollywood is Akshay is a threat to his co-star. He partake their role too. This is called success ke side effects. And this hardly bothers Akshay. He is enjoying his stance at the moment.
People say 'men are naughty at forty', and it goes apt for Akshay. No...no forget his long list of affairs with Bollywood damsels because now he is a happily married man and has a son too.
His naughtiness matches his wit and it turns into a super-hit. Tough looks never comes in between his alliance with extempore comic timing. To name a few roles that brought accolades for him are Raja, 'Parimal Chaturvedi' of Aflatoon, Sunny of Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Makrand "Mac" of Garam Masala, Raju of Hera Pheri, Bunty of Bhagam Bhaag, Arjun Ballu Singh of Namastey London, Arush Mehra of Heyy Babyy, Dr. Aditiya Shrivastav of Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Rajiv of Welcome.
Recent and much awaited is Happy Singh of romantic comedy Singh Is Kinng.
No bumper prize for guessing this, one specie that you'll find anywhere in the world? Without any doubts Punjabi!!! And Singh is Kinng seems to be the same a complete funjabi movie. So who else then Akshay Kumar would have justified this role. After his role in Namastey London expectations are high that he will play the role of a sardar immaculately in this movie. Let us wait and watch!!!
For the next superstar who is comfortable in his own skin this truly goes for him, "Na hum Amitabh, na Dilip Kumar, na kissi hero ke bacche, hum hain seedhe sadhey Akshay, Akshay".

Another superb one!!! Loved reading it....
However, I also think that Akki also represents the north-centric populism that's often mindless and at times tasteless!!!
Akshay makeover also denotes the death of action cinema in Bollywood. We love laughing and we don't care what we laugh at.
